POLISH cross-country skier Kornelia Marek has been disqualified from all events she competed in at the Winter Olympics in Vancouver by the International Olympic Committee.

Earlier this month, the Polish Skiing Association confirmed the 24-year old skier would face a two-year ban after testing positive for banned blood booster EPO.

She is the only athlete so far to face a doping ban from Vancouver, although ice hockey players Lubomir Visnovsky and Svetlana Terenteva, of Slovenia and Russia respectively, were both reprimanded for minor rule infractions.

Marek's disqualification means the Polish team - which included Olympic champion Justyna Kowalczyk - is disqualified from the 4x5km relay, where they placed sixth, and the sprint relay, where they finished ninth.

Her best individual performance in Whistler was an 11th place in the 30km mass start, which was won by Kowalczyk.
