AS the Noughties draw to a close, we take a look at the top ten moments to grace the sporting arena year by year.
2000 - Steve Redgrave wins a fifth Olympic gold medal in Sydney

AT the start of the decade, Steve Redgrave dragged his ageing body into Olympic legend, completing a 20-year long odyssey to collect his fifth consecutive gold medal at the Sydney Games.
Redgrave became only the fourth ever athlete to win five consecutive Olympic golds and it deservedly earned him the title of Britain's greatest Olympian.
The infamous moment in Atlanta when Redgrave gave anyone licence to shoot should they see him near a rowing boat was long forgotten. He had come back and conquered once more.
The lead up to the race for the British four had been tumultuous. Unbeaten in the Olympiad until their final race, Great Britain threatened to fall at the final hurdle.
The Italians, who beat them in that race, were in ominous form in the qualifying races whereas Britain's preparations had gone to pot.
But Redgrave thrives on adversity. Coping with diabetes since 1997, Redgrave takes solace in suffering.
Safe in the knowledge he has gone the extra mile in training, put his body to the furthest limits, Redgrave embarked on a remarkable Olympic career that began in Los Angeles and ended in Sydney.
"Remember these six minutes for the rest of your lives. Listen to the crowd and take it all in. This is the stuff of dreams," said Redgrave to his crewmates.
Pinsent could not contain himself upon crossing the line in 2000, climbing to celebrate with a delirious Redgrave, laughing and crying in equal measure.
Redgrave's fifth gold medal race witnessed the creation of a legend - the metamorphosis of a mighty man to an immortal.
