22:06 (-8 GMT): I spoke too soon - two goals in a minute have put Slovakia 2-0 against Sweden - if it stays like this that would be a major upset

21:49 (-8 GMT): Sweden and the Czech Republic are goalless after the first period. Other than the free-scoring 7-3 Canada victory these other quarter-finals have been very tight

21:30 (-8 GMT): Sidney Crosby and Roberto Luongo have both been speaking about Canada's thumping victory over the USA

21:15 (-8 GMT): Meanwhile, in the other quarter-final between Sweden and Slovakia, it's goalless in the first period

21:10 (-8 GMT): It's all over at the UBC Thunderbird Arena and Finland, silver medallists at the 2006 Olympics, have downed the Czech Republic with two late goals and will meet the USA in the semis

19:45 (-8 GMT): The women's aerials competition is underway at Cypress Mountain - conditions are awful. There's a lot of fog and the snow is like slush - expect chaos

19:24 (-8 GMT): The semi final between Finland and the Czech Republic is underway, it's 0-0 about halfway through the first period

19:15 (-8 GMT): Kaillie Humphries and Heather Moyse have captured bobsleigh victory and won Canada's seventh gold medal of Vancouver 2010

18:58 (-8 GMT): Germany's red-hot favourite Cathleen Martini crashes in her final bosleigh run! Just three to go now

18:50 (-8 GMT):  At the Pacific Coliseum, the Chinese quartet of Linlin Sun, Meng Wang, Hui Zhang and Yang Zhou have taken 3000m relay gold with a new world record time of 4:06.610. Canada took silver ahead of the USA

Korea thought they had won but were disqualified in a chaotic final! That's the first time in five Olympics that Korea have not won gold

18:46 (-8 GMT): Over in Whistler and things are beginning to come to a conclusion -the big guns will be going shortly.....

18:45 (-8 GMT): It's all over at Canada Hockey Place and Canada have chalked up a thumping 7-3 win!

18:35 (-8 GMT): At the Pacific Coliseum, the women's 3000m relay final is about to take place - we have the USA versus China versus Canada verus Korea - the Netherlands won the B final

18:25 (-8 GMT): There's a carnival atmosphere at Canada Hockey Place - victory is already assured and Canada have slightly taken their foot off the pedal

18:15 (-8 GMT): Huge collision in the ice hockey as Eric Staal smashes his head on the board - he gingerly gets to his feet though

18:00 (-8 GMT): Nicola Minichiello is heart-broken after her crash - read more

Meanwhile, Canada are 7-3 up at the start of the third period while Paul Worth of Great Britain has not made it through the 500m short track heats but the USA's Apolo Anton Ohno has

Canada's  Francois-Louis Tremblay sets the pace with a new Olympic record

17:55 (-8 GMT): Finally some good news for Great Britain's short track squad as Jon Eley progresses through the 500m heats

17:50 (-8 GMT): Lee Ho-Suk shows he is still in formidable form and romps home in an Olympic record

17:46 (-8 GMT): Short track now and in the 500m heats, Korean world record holder Sung Si-Bak cruises through the first heat

17:42 (-8 GMT): At the end of the third run of the women's bobsleigh competition, Kaillie Humphries and heather Moyse have a 0.57 advantage over the USA's Erin Pac and Elana Meyers

Great Britain's Nicola Minichiello and Gillan Cooke crashed and are now in 16th - 4.40 seconds off the pace

17:41: (-8 GMT): Corey Perry adds another at the halfway point of the match - fantastic assist from Ryan Getzlaf

17:39 (-8 GMT): Russia have pulled one back through Maxim Afinogenov but Canada are still cruising

17:30 (-8 GMT): The Canadian onslaught has continued and their 6-1 up now - Corey Perry and Shea Weber both notch

17:25 (-8 GMT): Things go from bad to worse in Whistler for Nicola Minichiello and Gillian Cooke - they've slipped to 16th after a crash and have been overtaken by compatriots Paula Walker and Kelly Thomas

Qualifiers so far include: Katherine Reutter of the USA who sets an Olympic record, China's Linlin Sun and Meng Wang and Korea's Ha-Ri Cho

Unfortunately for Great Britain, Elise Christie was third in her heat and does not advance

17:14 (-8 GMT): Oh no! No mistake from Niklas Edin and he seals victory to send David Murdoch and Great Britain packing - is that GB's chances of another medal at Vancouver 2010 up in smoke?

17:13 (-8 GMT): The action has started in Whistler and Canada's Kaillie Humphries and Heather Moyse produce another storming run to extend their lead over second-place Erin Pac and Elana Meyers

17:11 (-8 GMT): David Murdoch is about to have his last stone of the end, possibly the match, and possibly the last of the Olympics............

Not bad, not bad but it's not the hardest shot in the world for Niklas Edin to take the victory

17:09 (08 GMT): GOAL, GOAL! Dmitri Kalinin pulls one back for Russia but Brendan Morrow gets another for Canad who lead 4-1 after the first period

17:08 (-8 GMT): Sweden have cleared house but for a British stone - a chance goes begging for David Murdoch - the tension is palpable

16:56 (-8 GMT): GOAL, GOAL! Both Dan Boyle and Rick Nash score for Canada - the hosts are running riot

16:54 (-8 GMT): Nerves of steel from David Murdoch though and we're tied at 6-6 after ten ends so we go to an extra end - MASSIVE

16:53 (-8 GMT): Niklas Edin produces a great shot and clears both od Great Britain's stones. Murdoch must draw into the house now.......

16:52 (-8 GMT): I did speak too soon - not good from David Murdoch - the clock is ticking on Niklas Edin but he has the chance now to really pile the pressure on Murdoch

16:50 (-8 GMT): Long deliberations from Great Britain's curlers - at the risk of speaking too soon, I think he might just have the advantage

16:47 (-8 GMT): GOAL! That didn't take long. Danny Boyle skates through with the puck and pulls back for Ryan Getzlaf who fires home - Canada 1 Russia 0

16:42 (-8 GMT): Sweden have used their final time-out - Great Britain are lying shot and have cranked the pressure on Swedish skip Niklas Edin - his next shot might make or break this match

16:34 (-8 GMT): David Murdoch blanks the ninth end - just! Sweden go into the final end 6-5 up but Great Britain have hammer

16:33 (-8 GMT): All of Canada will be gripped for the next hour and a half as their men's hockey team have just got underway against world champions Russia in the quarter-finals

16:30 (-8 GMT): Elsewhere, there's some good news for British skeleton slider Adam Pengilly, who has been elected to the IOC Athletes' Commission - read more here

16:25 (-8 GMT): Not a great shot from Great Britain there - it's very nervous ninth end and Sweden make another mistake

16:10 (-8 GMT): Sweden edge back ahead in this topsy-turvy match and are 6-5 ahead after the eighth end

15:56 Too straight from Niklas Edin with his final stone and Great Britain pull level to 5-5 - David Murdoch has the game by the scruff of the neck

15:50 (-8 GMT): David Murdoch is piling the pressure on Sweden. He's got a decision to make with his final stone now

15:32 (-8 GMT): Some welcome news for Great Britain - David Murdoch produces a fine shot with his final stone and steals. he's back to 5-4 and has the hammer now

15:15 (-8 GMT):  David Murdoch has pulled one back just before the half-time interval - it's 5-3 to Sweden after five ends. Excuse my slight bias here but COME ON GREAT BRITAIN!

15:05 (-8 GMT): The women's second giant slalom run has officially been rescheduled for Thursday after poor visibilty ensured it could not take place today

15:03 (-8 GMT): I'm sure this won't surprise many people but the second run of the women's giant slalom has been postponed - I'll let you know when it has been rescheduled as soon as it's announced

You can re-cap on what happened in the first run here

15:00 (-8 GMT): Dare I say it but Great Britain's last realistic hopes of a medal are fading fast as Sweden take a 5-2 lead at the Vancouver Olympic Centre

14:52 (-8 GMT): If you are a British Olympic fan there is a nasty air of gloom starting to descend at the curling. Still a long way to go though - Sportsbeat's James Toney in Vancouver

14:45 (-8 GMT): This is beginning to remind me of public transport in London but the women's giant slalom second run has been put back again - it's now due at 15:00 but I'm not holding my breath

14:42 (-8 GMT): It's tit-for-tat in the curling and Sweden now get their second double in the third end to take a 4-2 lead

14:40 (-8 GMT): It's all over at the Richmond Olympic Oval and Martina Sablikova has her second victory of the Games with a storming run in the speed skating 5000m

14:28  Great Britain bounce back against Sweden with a double of their own and it's 2-2

14:20 (-8 GMT): And at Vancouver Olympic Centre it is Sweden who have drawn first blood in the winner-takes-all tie-break match with Great Britain and they lead 2-0

14:16 (-8 GMT): The women's giant slalom second run has been put back yet again in Whistler - it's now set to go at 14:45

14:15 (-8 GMT): Only two more pairs in the women's 5000m speed skating competition and it is Clara Hughes of Canada who leads

14:10 (-8 GMT): It's all over at Canada Hockey Place a second goal for Zach Parise right at the death seals a 2-0 win for the USA

13:59 (-8 GMT): Meanwhile British bobsleigh pilot John James Jackson has completed another two four-man runs - here's what he had to say about it

13:50 (-8 GMT): Plenty of drama at Canada Hockey Place, disallowed goals and shots hitting posts that the umpires think might have gone in but it's still 1-0 to the USA

13:41 (-8 GMT): And Zach Parise has just broken the deadlock Canada Hockey Place and the USA lead Switzerland 1-0

13:40 (-8 GMT): At the halfway stage of the women's 5000m speed skating competition it is the USA's Jilleanne Rookard who leads the way

13:30 (-8 GMT): I've just been informed that the second run of the women's giant slalom has been delayed again - the expected start time is now 14:15

13:17 (-8 GMT): At the Richmond Olympic Oval, Jorien Voorhuis is our early leader in the women's 5000m as Kristina Groves of Canada goes for yet another medal

13:05 (-8 GMT): Sweden take gold in the cross country, with Norway claiming silver and the Czech Republic winning bronze.

12:37 (-8 GMT): Chances for both sides in the ice hockey with the USA getting in a lot of high shots against Swiss goaltender Jonas Hiller but it is still all to play for at Canada Hockey Place as the first period draws to a close.

12:30 (-8 GMT): France, Sweden and the Czech Republic have pulled ahead of the rest in the cross country with 3km left on the third leg.

12:26 (-8 GMT): Sportsbeat's Ryan Bangs has been hanging out with the Korea media, following figure skating star Kim Yu-Na.

12:22 (-8GMT): It's all square in the ice hockey between the USA and Switzerland, 0-0 with nine minutes left in the first period.

12:08 (-8 GMT): In the cross country we are half way through with Sweden up in front, the Czech Republic in second and France in third. Northug will have a lot to do on the last leg if Norway can't close their 34 second gap.

11:57 (-8 GMT): Lindsey Vonn on crashing out of the giant slalom earlier:

"I am OK. I hurt my hand and will get an X-ray. My body is okay. I am just frustrated. I am disappointed with myself.

"My husband gave me the course report and the conditions were deteriorating fast at the bottom.

"I came into this with confidence, but I seem never quite to be able to get it into the finish."

And she apologies to teammate Julia Mancuso who was forced to abandon her run after Vonn's fall:

"She will be disappointed because she knew the course deteriorated fast. I feel terrible that I crashed and hurt her chances. I did not want that to happen."

11:50 (-8 GMT): The USA will be taking on Switzerland in ten minutes time in the first of the ice hockey quarter finals. After a great win in the group stages against Canada, the Yanks will be confident of reaching the semis.

11:42 (-8 GMT): Jean Marc Gaillard was pulling away for France but got his skis stuck in the snow and took a tumble. He was straight back up but lost the lead he had built up.

Those on the second leg are taking over now and Gaillard collapses on the floor - he will be kicking himself.

11:31 (-8 GMT): The cross country skiers are working hard just down the road from the giant slalom. Each leg will take about 25 minutes with 4 to go from each country.

Norway's Peter Northug will feature as they try to win gold ahead of archrivals Sweden.

About 2km left for those on the first leg. Not much between them in the early stages.

11:15 (-8 GMT): The men's cross country 4x10km relay is about to start in Whistler.

11:12 (-8 GMT): Chemmy Alcott upbeat despite lying in 25th:

"I made a couple of mistakes, so I'm pretty pleased to be only 2.41 seconds out. It's a good position to be in going into the second run," said Alcott.

"If I can finish 15th or 20th it would be a good move up for me."

11:10 (-8 GMT): Vonn being taken to hospital for x-ray on her right hand. She may yet be ruled out of Friday's slalom.

The American says she feels terrible about forcing Mancuso to abandon her run. Aw bless.

11:03 (-8 GMT): News from the American team is that Vonn is okay but has "banged up her right hand".

10:58 (-8 GMT): Read more about the women's giant slalom here.

10:46 (-8 GMT): Looks like Goergl will hold pole position going into the second run with Barioz in second and Zettel in third.

10:37 (-8 GMT): Mancuso has her thighs warmed before attempting her run for the second time today.

It will be difficult for Mancuso to defend her title now after tired legs mean she lies 1.3 seconds off Goergl.

Chemmy now pushed down to 23rd.

10:31 (-8 GMT): Alcott comes down in 1:17.53 and will be disappointed to be in 20th.

10:26 (-8 GMT): Mancuso has hitched a lift on a snow mobile to get her back up to the start gate.

Britain's Chemmy Alcott up soon.

10:23 (-8 GMT): Elisabeth Goergl is now sitting on top in a time of 1:15.12.

Julia Mancuso had to stop her run receiving a yellow flag after Vonn and her helpers were still on the course. Mancuso has come right down to the finish but will have to start again. She will need to get back in the zone but won't want to leave it too long as the course gets cut up by everyone who gets in before her.

Vonn is on her feet although looks a little shaken up. Hopefully no more injuries for the American.

10:21 (-8 GMT): Vonn crashes out! She has hit the safety netting but is struggling to get up.

10:12 (-8 GMT): Super combined champion Maria Riesch sits seventh but it is Taina Barioz from France who is out in front with a time of 1:15.28 minutes. Lindsey Vonn and Julia Mancuso are still yet to go.

10:05 (-8 GMT): The second run will take place later today so no one is out of it yet but Kathrin Zettel from Austria now leads the way after clocking 1:15.28 minutes. The Austrian currently sits second in the World Cup giant slalom standings.

10:00 (-8 GMT):  German Hoelzl sets the pace in difficult conditions in Whistler with a time of 1:15.47 minutes but she is immediately pushed into second place by compatriot Viktoria Rebensburg who goes 0.34 seconds faster.

Visibility is poor on parts on the course with the fog rolling in.

09:55 (-8 GMT): The women's giant slalom is about to kick off with world champion Kathrin Hoelzl first up.

09:20 (-8 GMT): Good morning and welcome to Sportsbeat's coverage of day 13 from the Winter Olympics in Vancouver. Here's a quick reminder of what happened yesterday in Canada.

Figure skater Kim Yu-Na broke the world record in the women's short program to lead the way at the half way point.

Meanwhile, Canadian Kaillie Humphries posted two track records to sit top of the two-man bob standings ahead of today's final two runs.

And Switzerland's Carlo Janka roared to giant slalom success on the slopes of Whistler.

WELCOME to day 13 of the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.

First up the alpine skiing continues at 10am (-8 GMT) with the women's giant slalom featuring defending champion and Vancouver 2010 double silver medallist Julia Mancuso going for America.

Curling's crunch match sees Great Britain taking on Sweden in a tie breaker session to decide who will meet Canada in tomorrow's semi final.

And don't miss the women's two-man bobsleigh with Canada's Kaillie Humphries leading the way ahead of the final two runs at the Whistler Sliding Centre.
