Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics KEEP REFRESHING FOR REGULAR UPDATES FROM VANCOUVER

23:40 (-8 GMT): And at a staggering press conference, Joannie Rochette oozes class and speaks at length about her recent turmoil

23:30 (-8 GMT): The picture gallery of Canada women's ice hockey team celebrating their victory is in - take a look here

22:49 (-8 GMT): Kim Yu-Na has revealed it was her childhood dream to produce her best ever performance on the Olympic stage - read more here

22:30 (-8 GMT): Canada women's ice hockey coach Melody Davidson reveals star-performing goaltender Shannon Szabados begged to play against the USA

21:30 (-8 GMT): The picture gallery from the ladies' figure skating free program is in - take a look here

21:02 (-8 GMT): That completes the live action for tonight but don't even think about going anywhere! Stay tuned for all the reaction from the figure skating, the men's aerials and Canadian women's ice hockey victory!

21:00 (-8 GMT): A huge cheer for Joannie Rochette who climbs the podium to first - not a soul in the Pacific Coliseum is sitting down and there are very few dry eyes in the house

20:50 (-8 GMT) So it's gold for Kim Yu-Na by an enormous winning margin, silver for Mao Asada and bronze goes to Joannie Rochette

20:45 (-8 GMT): Joannie Rochette returns to the ice with another emotionally charged performance and she holds it together to take bronze - momentous show of strength from the Canadian

20:40 (-8 GMT): Mao Asada nails her triple axel but other mistakes creep in - she's going to take silver but she is more than 23 points behind Kim Yu-Na - unbelievable!

20:30 (-8 GMT): Follow that if you dare Mao Asada!

20:22 (-8 GMT): Spell-binding from Kim Yu-Na! She's racked up a colossal 228.56 points adding more than 18 points to her own world record

20:12 (-8 GMT): Japan's number two now, Miki Ando.....below-par from her. She edges into the lead but with Kim Yu-Na up next, she won't stay there long!

20:08 (-8 GMT): A very upbeat performance from the USA's Rachael Flatt and she's delighted with herself

That's a surprise, only 117.85 points - the judges didn't like it but the crowd did and they boo in appreciation of what they thought deserved better

19:52 (-8 GMT): Business is about to pick up at the Pacific Coliseum - the final six, including Kim Yu-Na, Mao Asada and Joannie Rochette are about to go

19:42 (-8 GMT): And Lepisto's sense of humour clearly pays dividends as she moves into the lead with a new season's best of 126.61

19:36 (-8 GMT): 2009 European champion Laura Lepisto shows her funny side. Her music started playing but not from the beginning and she playfully lambasts the sound man

19:33 (-8 GMT): A bit of a shambles from Carolina Kostner I'm afraid, just 88.88 for here, she'll tumble down the leaderboard I'd imagine

19:26 (-8 GMT): Just to say, we're going to be staying with the action at the Pacific Coliseum because...., well, because it's the only live action left today - but what a way to finish!

19:25 (-8 GMT): Europe's finest now - Carolina Kostner of Italy. She disappointed in the short program so we'll have to wait and see if she can jump up a few places here

19:24 (-8 GMT): A sublime performance from Akiko Suzuki, she produces the best free skate so far today of 120.42 - and she's only Japan's third-ranked skater!

19:15 (-8 GMT): Alena Leonova of Russia takes a commanding lead in the ladies figure skating but the medals are sure to be decided by the strong Asian contigent still to come

9:04 (-8 GMT):  And Kyle Nissen cannot match his first jump as gold does go to Belarus' Alexei Grishin

19:00 (-8 GMT): Belarus' Alexei Grishin has now gone into first place at Cypress Mountain. If he clings on to win that will go some way to avenging the disappointment of compatriot and World Cup champion Anton Kushnir

18:50 (-8 GMT): Over at Cypress Mountain and Jeret 'Speedy' Peterson has launched into the skies to produce a breath-taking second jump and take the lead

He has not always covered himself in glory however. Find him at number two on our top ten Winter Olympic scandals list

18:47 -8 GMT): That's 12 down and 12 to come at the Pacific Coliseum but there's a wee break now

18:46 (-8 GMT): A season's best for South Korea's Ming-Jung Kwak to move her into third position. She's just 16 - the next Queen Yu-Na in the making?

18:43 (-8 GMT): World aerials champion Ryan St Onge produces the goods to lead the competition but his seocnd jump still doesn't match Kyle Nissen's first - is the gold medal Nissen's to lose?

18:38 (-8 GMT): Remember, there is no Jenna McCorkell of Great Britain in action here - she had a torrid time of things in the short program and didn;t qualify - here she is sharing all

18:36 (-8 GMT): 2007 bronze medallist Kiira Korpi of Finland has now moved into the lead in the ladies' figure skating competition

18:33 (-8 GMT): After the first jump of the aerials it is Kyle Nissen who leads - this is turning into an excellent day for Canada

18:25 (-8 GMT): There has been another cruel twist of fate for Latvian bobsleigh pilot Janis Minins

18:10 (-8 GMT): Canada's Kyle Nissen is the early leader in the men's aerials competition with a first jump of 126.92

17:57 (-8 GMT): Sarah Hecken of Germany now leads the ladies' figure skating competition with a delightful performance. I think Kim Yu-Na might still win though even if you just used her free skate score

17:54 (-8 GMT): And Sir Steve Redgrave has a relatively far-fetched plan to improve Great Britain's winter sports success - a good idea if he can just get his hands on the necessary lolly

17:48 (-8 GMT): Great Britain's teenage short track speed skater has been speaking to Sportsbeat's James Toney about her Olympic debut - read more here

17:38 (-8 GMT): Yan Liu of China holds the early lead at the Pacific Coliseum as she collects 91.73 for her free skate for a total of 143.47

17:30 (-8 GMT):  Time has run out for the USA as women's ice hockey gold goes to CANADA!

17:11 (08 GMT): Tugbad Karademir opens the women's figure skating free skate with a solid performance to a dirge of a tune - Sportsbeat's James Toney, at the Pacific Coliseum

17:10 (-8 GMT): Time is running out for the USA against Canada meanwhile. There are 14 minutes left

17:00 (-8 GMT): The action is getting underway at the Pacific Coliseum for the ladies' free program but a couple of hours until it reaches a climax yet

16:51 (-8 GMT): Canada waste another power play and the chance to go further ahead but the two-time defending champions are just one period away from Olympic gold

16:45 (-8 GMT) Yet more fine goalkeeping from Shannon Szabados. If it stays like this then Marie-Philip Poulin is going to make the headlines buy Szabados has been imperious

16:37 (-8 GMT): Canada's Kevin Martin's unbeatable form continues and he's into the final after a 6-3 victory against Niklas Edin of Sweden while Norway's Thomas Ulsrud has downed Ralph Stoeckli of Switzerland

Read more here

16:27 (-8 GMT): Power play for the USA but again it goes begging. Jenny Potter, who has been the USA's star of the show so far has been keep quiet tonight

16:20 (-8 GMT): They're back on the ice and only a fine save (another one) from Shannon Szabados keeps the USA off the scoresheet

16:12 (-8 GMT): Meanwhile, back at the curling rink and Canada's Kevin Martin has one foot in the final and has stormed to a 6-2 advantage over Sweden's Niklas Edin

Much closer between Switzerland and Norway - it's 6-5 to Thomas Ulsrud of Norway after eight

16:05 (-8 GMT): A period of respite at Canada Hockey Place now with the first intermission. Canada certainly have the advantage there

15:59 (-8 GMT): GOAL! She's done it again! Marie Philip Poulin rifles home to make it 2-0 to Canada with three minutes left in the first quarter

15:53 (-8 GMT): GOAL! Canada break the deadlock. It's 18-year-old Marie Philip Poulin who fires home her fourth goal of the competition

15:52 (-8 GMT): No way through for the USA - Canada goaltender Shannon Szabados looks invincible in the early stages

15:50 (-8 GMT): The picture gallery from Viktoria Rebensburg is in - take a look here

15:49 (-8 GMT): Five on three now for the USA for 40 seconds, it's looking dangerous for Canada......

15:45 (-8 GMT): Great Britain seem resigned to leaving Vancouver with just one medal. But it's golden, an improvement on Turin 2006 and the British Olympic Association believe that represents success

15:40 (-8 GMT): Meghan Agosta has an early sight of goal but opts to pass. Perhaps with nine goals to here name already she should have pulled the trigger

15:34 (-8 GMT):The action is underway at Canada Hockey Place. IOC president Jacques Rogge has insisted women's ice hockey must improve in quality in future Games bu these two powerhouses are sure to serve up a treat

15:20 (-8 GMT): Meanwhile, there is a buzz bubbling at Canada Hockey Place as Canada and the USA are set to do battle for the women's gold medal in just ten minutes

15:13 (-08 GMT): Time for another curling update now and in end five, Canada are edging Sweden 2-1 in a tight affair, while Norway are also 2-1 up on Switzerland

15:00 (-8 GMT): Meanwhile, in thr aftermath of the Great Britain men's curling team's elimination, coach David Hay has encouraged the new breed to step forward

14:50 (-8 GMT): Some news coming in from the US Ski Team and Lindsey Vonn has confirmed she will be competing in the slalom on Friday - read more here

14:34 (-8 GMT): Early stages in the men's curling semi-finals - Canada are 1-0 up over Sweden while Norway lead Switzerland by the same scoreline. Both matches are in the third end
