HEATHER Frederiksen lowered the women's 100m Freestyle S8 European record on the final day of the British Gas national championships.

Frederiksen, who has enjoyed an impressive week, took the European record in this morning's heats with a time of 1:07.31 minutes and looked on course for more success this evening.

But she just missed breaking the record for the second time, touching home in a time of 1.07.56.

The silver medal went to double Paralympic champion Eleanor Simmonds while Stephanie Millward claimed bronze.

Swansea Performance's David Roberts continued his dominance of the freestyle events by securing another national title in the men's 100m freestyle.

The four-time Beijing Paralympic champion swam an impressive race and took the gold medal with a time of 1.02.12.

The men's 50m butterfly saw Roberts looking to secure his second gold medal of the day but he was forced to settle for silver when Matt Walker edged a close finish.

The women's 50m butterfly saw Kelly College's Jan Langton take the gold medal while Sarah Timm was second.
