LONDON 2012: Louloudis confirms place in GB Olympic men's eight

CONSTANTINE Louloudis has been confirmed in Great Britain's Olympic rowing eight after overcoming injury worries.

Louloudis, dubbed a 'beast' by four-time Olympic champion Sir Matthew Pinsent, is one of the sport's rising stars having been the youngest member of the 2011 winning Oxford Boat Race crew and partnering George Nash to last year's world under-23 men's pairs title.

He was not named in the initial wave of selections after spending the season sidelined with a back injury and will now row his first competitive race of the year at the Olympic regatta.

"It is good news that Constantine Louloudis is now fully recovered from his injury and as an exciting, young prospect I’m sure he can really add something to our men’s eight," said Team GB rowing team leader David Tanner.

Meanwhile, Marcus Bateman and Cameron Nicol have been named as spares for the men's open weight events, a position occupied by Adam Freeman-Pask in the lightweight events.
