Goodison has been in imperious form since capturing Olympic Laser class gold last summer, picking up ISAF World Cup victories in France, Germany and Holland in 2009.

A disastrous first day in Landskrona saw Goodison disqualified in the first race of the competition but he roared back on day two, taking victory in both of the races.

And in Thursday he extended his 11-point lead over New Zealand's James Sandall - leading from start to finish ahead of Australia's Tom Slingsby, before the second race of the day was abandoned.

"I led early on and kept extending it and that gave me a lot of confidence so I was a little disappointed that the second race was abandoned," said Goodison.

"But it will be difficult for someone to catch me now I have this cushion."
