Goodison settled for silver behind Croatia's Tonci Stipanovic  while British team-mate Charlotte Dobson also ranked second in the women's event.

"It's a little bit frustrating not to have won for a sixth time, but at the same time you can't expect to win every single event, much as you might like to," said Goodison.

However, Scot Dobson was delighted with her performance, behind only Croatia's Tina Mihelic, ahead of the World Championships in Largs next month.

"I'm really, really pleased," she said.

"I think I was only second by the skin of my teeth in the end and would've have been really disappointed if I'd not finished in the top three after being thereabouts all week.

"The last few events have gone really well for me.  There have been a couple of people missing from here and the Worlds are bound to be a harder challenge.

"But I'm certainly happy with the way everything is going and having the Worlds at home is going to be pretty cool."
