BRYONY Shaw has vowed to adopt the approach that slow and steady wins the race as she bids to upgrade the Olympic bronze she won in 2008 to gold at London 2012.

The 27-year-old has barely had a minute to breathe since claiming Olympic windsurfing bronze on the shores of Qingdao two years ago, travelling high and low to find the perfect 2012 tonic.

Shaw finished sixth at the RS:X World Championships in Weymouth in 2009 and seventh overall in the ISAF World Cup standings before ending runner-up in this year's series.

The windsurfer finished the seventh and final leg of the World Cup series at the Skandia Sail for Gold Regatta in Weymouth toasting bronze earlier this month.

The Dorset coast will act as the venue for both the Olympic and Paralympic sailing events and with less than 24 months to go until she sets sail, Shaw is adamant not rushing things will see her win gold.

"It is there or thereabouts at the moment and it is all about putting it all together on a consistent basis as I look to realise my dream of winning gold at 2012," said Shaw.

"I think I have the speed but I just need to keep chugging away and not panic and change anything and just sail how I know to sail and if I do that then I am sure I will be able to do just that.

"The standard of girls racing is really high this year and the best in the world descended on Weymouth for Sail for Gold and it is great to see how I am doing in comparison to them.

"We are taking bits of information off all the girls and how they behave in different conditions as we try to get ahead of the game so to speak for two years time.

"It is all about building up as much knowledge ahead of London 2012 as possible and that is the main reason why I sailed I guess."
