BRITAIN'S Richard Faulds and Stevan Walton fell agonisingly short of reaching the ISSF San Marino World Cup double trap final on Saturday.

The duo, among the five remaining British shooters to receive funding since the UK Sport budget cuts in January, were both just one successful shot away from reaching the six-man final as both notched 139 points from a possible 150.

Sydney 2000 Olympic gold medallist Faulds, who clinched World Cup silver in Munich last month, missed just one clay in the third round but his late challenge was not enough to see him progress.

The third of three British competitors, Steven Scott, endured a difficult third round as he hit just 43 targets to finish with 137.

China's Junjie Mo claimed the gold medal after missing just one shot, his first, in the final to record a total of 193.

Sweden's Hakan Dahlby was second with 191 points with Joshua Richmond (190) from the United States third.
