EDDIE 'the Eagle' Edwards warmed Canadian hearts at the 1988 Games in Calgary and on Thursday, the Brit was reunited with the Canadian public as he carried the Olympic torch through Winnipeg.

"How does it feel to be an Olympic icon, Eddie?" Edwards was asked.
"It feels very nice. I'm just very proud and honoured to be here,” he replied.
“I just hope I don't trip over and become the flame."
Edwards was selected to carry the flame by the Canadian Tourist Commission, even though his contribution to British Olympic sport was recently questioned by BOA performance director, Sir Clive Woodward.
"We wanted to find candidates who really embody the spirit of Olympism and we felt that Eddie the Eagle fitted that category very well," said spokesman John Parker-Jervis said.
"He certainly has a story and attitude that shows that if you put your mind to anything you can get it done."
