FRENCHMAN Emmanuel Chedal led the way in qualifying for the World Cup event in Bad Mitterndorf ahead of Norwegian Roar Ljoekelsoy and compatriot Vincent Descombes.

Chedal holds the advantage going onto tomorrow's competition with 201.5 metres - good enough for 193.8 points.

Ljoekelsoy managed 196m to chalk up 188.7 points while Descombes notched 181.2 points for his 191m jumped.

Recently-crowned Four Hills champion Wolfgang Loitzl of Austria and overall world cup leader Simon Ammann of Switzerland both faultered and failed to complete the qualifying session.
