Bardal goes top with fantastic win in Germany

ANDERS Bardal produced a fine performance in Willingen to claim his third FIS ski jumping World Cup win of the season and move top of the overall rankings.

The Norwegian achieved a second jump of 148m to add to his first jump of 145.5m to earn 277 points and as a result move to 1117 points in the standings, and into the overall lead.

Unfancied Roman Koudelka from Czech Republic came second with jumps of 147.5m and 146.5m to get 270.3 points and go eighth in the standings on 656 points.

Japan's Daiki Ito claimed third with a huge first jump of 149.5m followed by 144m and go seventh with 736 points.

It was a bad day at the office for title battlers Gregor Schlierenzauer and Andreas Kofler who finished 18th and 45th respectively to blow the race for the title wide open.
