Lefevre goes top with World Cup win in Finland

LUCILE Lefevre jumped to the top of the FIS Snowboard Halfpipe World Cup standings with victory in Ruka, Finland.

The Frenchwoman collected the maximum World Cup points with her second run in the final, scoring 81.3 points to take the gold.

Compatriot Emma Bernard took silver with 80 while Ella Suitiala gave the home crowd something to cheer about as she finished third.

Bernard climbed to fourth overall with her result but Ursina Haller and Queralt Castellet hold onto their second and third positions respectively despite not featuring in Finland.

Meanwhile, in the men's event, Markus Malin closed the gap on Janne Korpi at the top of the World Cup standings with victory.

The Finn gave the home crowd plenty to cheer about as he scored an impressive 94 points on his first run in the final to move onto 1160 overall, to move second with compatriot Malin on top on 1600.

Completing the podium was Holland's Steve Krijbolder and Finland's Alekal Kumpulainen in second and third respectively.
