The 27-year old missed out on 1,500m Olympic gold for the second consecutive Games in Vancouver, finishing 0.53 seconds down on the Netherlands' Mark Tuitert.

But there was no stopping the American in Heerenveen as he romped home in 1:45.20 minutes, adding to his 1,000m crown for Erfurt last week.

Tuitert was nowhere to be found in front of his own crowd, finishing 1.47 behind in fourth while Canada's Denny Morrison pushed Davis closest, 0.92 behind the American in second.

Norway's Havard Bokko, who finished 0.03 behind Davis for bronze in Vancouver, was the only person who could overhaul the American in the World Cup standings.

But, up against Davis in the final pairing, Bokko couldn't handle the American's pace and cross 1.66 back in sixth.

World allround champion and home favourite Sven Kramer will make his first appearance in the Netherlands on Saturday since being controversially disqualified from the 10,000m final in Vancouver after illegally changing lanes.
