Cheats get comeuppance as Jaked gets cheeky

HOW many times were you told as a child cheats never prosper?

As swimming world records tumble quicker than Michael Jackson's back catalogue has sold this week, those in the Jaked 01 swimsuits were essentially cheating.

But finally one of the culprits has got their comeuppance, and boy was it worth the wait.

Italy's Flavia Zoccari took to the pool at the Mediterranean Games decked out in the Jaked 01 swimsuit, but when she left the pool, that wasn't quite the case.

The £318 swimsuit that was worn by compatriot Federica Pellegrini when she broke the 400m freestyle at the weekend, and by France's Fred Bousquet for his 50m freestyle world record, came apart at the seams.

Zoccari was left more than a little red-faced when the polyurethane - supposedly unbeatable and so far unbreakable - ripped open exposing perfectly-formed posterior.

Unfortunately the Mediterranean Games are apparently an irony-free zone and no-one found the funny side of it. Poor Zoccari was reduced to tears having bared all

Jaked meanwhile, sell the costume with the tag-line ‘more than skin.' Surely Zoccari's entitled to a refund?

she cried?

Really, she cried? Did that one dude who's suit exposed his hairy crack shed a tear? Somehow I doubt it..

Weird but cool

Now that's a weird but cool swimsuit. Must be eye-catching when worn in a public pool. If professional swimmers dares to wear it, why can't anybody else? After all, it's not the swimsuit that matters, it's how you win the competition.

Swimsuit technology.

I'm afraid that swimsuit technology has already become established enough to make all the new records stand, since the Beijing Olympics and the Rome Championships; the failure of the Jaked suits just shows that the manufacturer shouldnt be so hasty to introduce an unproven new design withoutrigorous testing.

A porous version of the Jaked 02 should be fine by rules as an incremental development; FINA should allow fullbody suits to remain as an essential part of the sport.
Otherwise, should we start to ban swimming-goggles, or starting from diving at the edge of the pool, for instance?

There have always been similar issues withcycling, with which I am well acquainted; the cycling body UCI allow spokeless streamlined wheels and streamlined frames/components, PVC coated clothing, as well as slipstreaming in certain types of races. Streamlined Fairings attached to bikes are not allowed, and there is a seperate cycling fraternity, the IHPVA which governs racing of streamlined bikes and trikes.
Should a new category of swimming for bodysuits be set up, which would satisfy both sides of the arguement?

Alain Bernard wore the

Alain Bernard wore the x-glide when setting the 100 free WR.

Well its always nice to hear

Well its always nice to hear an opinion from someone who knows nothing about the sport. Oh and by the way it was Fred Bousquet who broke the 50free WR, not Bernard.
