GREAT Britain's involvement at the beach volleyball World Championships is over after both home pairings crashed out in the group stages.

Lucy Boulton and Denise Johns were defeated by Austrian duo Sara Montagnolli and Barbara Hansel in a tight encounter 21-17, 21-18, ensuring they lost all three of their matches.

While Zara Dampney and Shauna Mullin's losing streak also continued in Stavanger, Norway as they slumped to a third straight loss to Canadian's Annie Martin and Marie-Andree Lessard.

It was the first time the Great Britain beach volleyball set-up, based at the University of Bath, had entered two teams at the World Championships.
