Venus Williams to face Bartoli in final in California

VENUS Williams will face Marion Bartoli in the final of the Bank of the West Classic in California.

Third seed Williams was in demonic form as she brushed aside fourth seed Elena Dementieva of Russia 6-0, 6-1.

Bartoli, who lost to Williams in straight sets in the 2007 Wimbledon final, booked her place in the last two with a three-sets 6-3 1-6 6-1 victory over Australia's Samantha Stosur.

"I raised my level on important points," said Williams. "Things really went well for me on court today."

Her victory was her ninth in 11 meetings with Dementieva and her sixth in a row.

Williams will be looking to avenge the defeat of younger sister Serena, who suffered a shock quarter-final defeat at the hands of Stosur.

Williams senior had booked her place in the last four with victory over former world number one Maria Sharapova.
