WIMBLEDON 2010: Britain's Shuker books her place in wheelchair final
GREAT Britain's Lucy Shuker needed to come through a three-set tussle to book her place in a second consecutive Wimbledon wheelchair tennis doubles final.
Shuker and Australian partner Daniela di Toro took the opening set against France's Florence Alix-Gravellier and Holland's Jiske Griffioen on a tie-break.
But their rivals hit back to restore parity before last year's runners-up secured their progress 7-6, 3-6, 6-3.
The familiar face of Esther Vergeer - the dominant force in women's wheelchair tennis - now awaits in the final, as alongside new partner Sharon Walraven she sailed past Belgium's Annick Sevenans and Holland's Aniek van Koot 6-0, 6-3.
"I didn't feel I was pushing too well or swinging through the ball too well in the first two sets and Danni was fantastic," admitted Shuker.
"However, I managed to bring it all together for the final set and we played a much better set and thankfully came away with the win.
"It's going to be a tough final on Sunday, that's for sure, but after finishing as runners-up last year we so want to win and I'm confident we have the game to do it."
