ANDY Murray was back to his very best as he romped into the Miami Masters final, overcoming Juan Martin del Potro in three sets.

ON THE MARCH: Andy Murray blitzes his way to the final of the Miami Masters with victory over Juan Martin del Potro

The Brit sealed a 6-1, 5-7, 6-2 victory over the Argentinean, and will now meet Serbia's Novak Djokovic in the final.

Djokovic overcame world number two Roger Federer - who smashed his racquet on the ground in anger - 3-6, 6-2, 6-3.

That victory means even if Murray proves victorious, he cannot overtake Djokovic in the world rankings, but the Scot was over the moon just to reach the final.

"There were a lot of highs in the game. I think I only played one or two bad games," Murray said afterwards.

"The first set was perfect. I can only hope in the future I can play close to that level.

"In the first set I mixed it up a bit and kept him moving around. I knew he would be tired after the five-set match he played against Rafael Nadal so that's what I tried to do."

There was some history to the match after Murray took offence to del Potro's comments about his mother last year.

And Murray was a man on a mission, racing into a 5-0 lead in the opening set with two breaks of service.

He then served out the set but Murray's concentration dropped slightly in the second as he allowed del Potro in to level proceedings.

At break point at 4-2, Murray had to wait while Del Potro went to his chair for treatment to his leg, but the British number one converted his second chance of the game and served out the match comfortably.
