Hollie Avil leads Great Britain to World Under-23s in Australia
BEIJING Olympian Hollie Avil will lead Great Britain to the Under-23 World Triathlon Championships, intent on repeating her junior success in the Gold Coast, Australia.
STAR TURN: Great Britain's Hollie Avil will bid to repeat her junior success at under-23 level in Australia
Avil, 19, captured the world junior and European titles in 2007 as a fresh-faced 17 year-old, earning her a place at the Olympics last year.
In April last year, she also became the youngest triathlete to achieve successive podium finishes in her first two World Cup races - in Japan and South Korea.
She will be joined Down Under next month by newly-crowned British Triathlon Super Series Champion Jodie Stimpson as well as fellow Brit Vicky Holland.
In the men's ranks Aaron Harris, who finished as runner up behind Stuart Hayes in the British Triathlon Super Series, joins 21-year-old David McNamee, who is set to make his international debut in Australia.
"The GB U23 World Triathlon Championship Team has some very talented triathletes, who are already competitive on a senior level," said British Triathlon performance director Heather Williams.
"In 2008, Alistair Brownlee won gold in the Men's U23 event and this year I am confident that we have the athletes to repeat this in Australia."
