GREAT Britain's men's water polo team had a mixed start to their campaign at the LEN European B Championships in Switzerland.

After edging past the Netherlands by the odd goal in 15, they were narrowly beaten 10-9 by Georgia to sit fourth in their group with three preliminary matches to come, including a clash against the hosts later today.

Georgia and Malta are the only unbeaten teams in Great Britain's group while France have won both their matches in Group A.

Great Britain's women won the equiviant event in Manchester earlier this year but hopes are not so high for the men's team - who have seen their funding slashed in recent months.
