GREAT Britain's men's water polo team comprehensively beat hosts Switzerland at the LEN European B Championships in Lugano.

Despite a slow start and a close first quarter, Great Britain were always ahead and were certainly value for their 19-10 victory.

"It wasn't a pretty match but we got the three points to keep us in the competition," said captain Craig Figes, following a previous win over Holland and defeat by Georgia.

Elsewhere, unbeaten France secured progression through the preliminary stages with a 10-7 win over Belarus while Malta stunned Georgia with a shock 12-10 victory.
