The 23-year-old opening his business in Auckland with friend Hugo Phillips in a bid to raise enough profits to aid him in his quest to reach the London Olympics in three years' time.

Campbell had hoped to raise NZ$300,000 from his ‘high-class gentleman's club' to avoid relying on his parents for assistance with funding.

But the New Zealand Olympic Committee have written to Campbell, demanding he cut the link between his business and his London 2012 campaign, or face a court appearance.

"Based on the Olympic values of excellence, friendship and respect, we would place your actions as totally inconsistent with these values," said NZOC secretary general Barry Maister in the letter to Campbell.

"Your open solicitation of 'clients' for your 'business' while using the Olympic or Olympian connection must cease immediately, or the NZOC will be forced to consider taking legal action against you."

But Campbell, who finished inside the top 16 at the Beijing Olympics, insists he has done nothing wrong.

"At the end of the day, I feel like I'm not exploiting anyone because no one has to be here, we are not forcing anyone to be here. They are here of their own free will," he said.

Legislation regarding prostitution in New Zealand is relatively relaxed. Campbell is currently considering legal action of his own against the NZOC.
