BRITISH Olympic wrestling hopeful Sacha Madyarchyk might be planning a hectic year but he insists a spot of jetlag is a small price to pay on the road to London 2012.

Madyarchyk is planning a packed 2010 which includes the World Championships in Moscow, the Commonwealth Games in Delhi in addition to training camps and Grand Prix competitions.

"It is going to be a busy year because we have lots of competitions," said Ukrainian-born Madyarchyk, who is looking to defend his national 60kg title later this month.

"But I am looking forward to it and hopefully I can go to all the major competitions and perform well.

"I am feeling in good shape and have been wrestling well recently. So, hopefully, I can get to the Commonwealth Games and the World Championships because they are the most important events of the year for me.

"We will be busy but I am looking forward to it."

The British wrestling team are busy gearing up for next week's European Championships in Azerbajan but paperwork issues mean Madyarchyk will miss the event

Madyarchyk (pictured left), 26, moved to Salford as a 20-year-old but only recently got his British citizenship confirmed - although not in time to qualify for the event.

"London is the main aim for everybody and everybody is concentrating on that," added Madyarchyk.

"But the way I am looking at London is the way I look at wrestling in general.  In wrestling you have a lot of fights a day and so you have to take each one, concentrate on that, and then move onto the next.

"And that is how I am going to look at London.  I'll concentrate on the English Championships first and then when that is over I'll think about my next tournament all the way up until London and hopefully I can then go there and do well."
