Shocked weightllifter gives birth during training

OLYMPIC weightlifter Elizabeth Poblete has unexpectedly given birth to a baby boy during training.

The 22-year-old, who represented Chile at the Beijing Olympics last summer, was preparing for an event in Sao Paulo when the child was born.

The boy was three months premature and was in intensive care.  However, Poblete has since left the hospital after revealing she could not fund medical care for her and her newborn baby.

The hospital has denied it discharged the 22-year-old because she failed to pay her bill.

Poblete, who finished 12th in the 69-75kg category in Beijing, had admitted to feeling unwell a week prior to giving birth but, according to reports in Brazil, was ‘shocked' to learn she was pregnant.
