Ljubicic awaits after Murray cruises through
ANDY Murray eased into the quarter-finals at the BNP Paribas Open - but was hardly tested in the process.
Fourth round opponent Tommy Robredo was down 6-3, 3-0 when he retired with a wrist injury.
The Spaniard was already on the ropes, despite earning a early first set break, and a host of unforced errors were duly punished by the world number four and British number one.
"I'd seen him before the match having ice on his wrist but he was hitting the ball well, serving big and I didn't see him letting up on too many shots. But obviously it was affecting him quite badly," said Murray.
The Scot is now starting to talk up his chances of success at Indian Wells, despite still feeling the after effects of the viral infection that kept him on the sidelines for two weeks.
He faces Croatia's Ivan Ljubicic in the last eight after he survived a close encounter with Igor Andreev - saving five match points before progressing 4-6, 7-6, 7-6.
"The conditions are tough, its really hot out here and Ivan plays well around the nets in these conditions," he said.
"I think I've got a chance of winning the tournament but I'm still looking ahead to Miami."
