More than 30 athletes bid to join Winckless on athletes' commission
MORE than 30 former and current Olympic athletes - including six medallists - are contesting election to the British Olympic Association's athletes commission ahead of London 2012.

CHAIR: Sarah Winckless will lead the BOA athletes' commission - a vital link between officials and competitors - in the build-up to London 2012
A peer voting process will see 12 commission members elected by not only current athletes on the World Class Performance Pathway, but also Olympians who have competed for Team GB since the Nagono Olympics in 1998.
Once voting closes next month, the members of the athletes' commission will come together to act as an advisory group, led by recently appointed chair Sarah Winckless.
"I'm delighted by the excellent candidate list and the wide range of summer and winter sports represented," said Winckless, a rowing double sculls silver medallist at the 2004 Athens Olympics.
"The fact that my fellow Olympians are eager to give their time voluntarily to act on behalf of their peers is a mark of the pride and passion we feel as Olympians and members of Team GB.
"Once the election is over, I look forward to working together with the members of the Commission to help BOA management utilise the athlete perspective to deliver the greatest opportunity possible for Team GB athletes to achieve success in London and beyond."
