JO Jackson insists she is happy with her below par Duel in the Pool performance which saw Great Britain defeat Germany 207-109 in Swansea.

This is despite the Olympic bronze medallist losing out twice to teammate Jazmin Carlin in the 400m and 200m freestyle events.

Jackson, who won two silvers and one bronze at last year's World Championships in Rome, pushed Carlin stroke for stroke up to the halfway point of the 200m but faded away to record a time of 2:00.48, more than a second down on her compatriot.

But with only two individual places up for grabs for the European Championships in August, the 23-year-old believes she has more to give before the trials at the end of March.

"I was pleased with how I swam and that was a really strong performance for me," said Jackson.

"I am in really strong training at the minute so I was really happy with my time in the 400 freestyle.

"The weekend's racing came in a week when I had already swum 60,000m and I was pretty tired so I couldn't expect too much."

And Jackson insists she is not surprised at the form of 19-year-old Carlin ahead of the national trials in Sheffield.

"With it being a one, two, three in the 400m free that was absolutely great for us and great for the sport as a whole especially with Jazz coming through to win," she added.

"She is a great swimmer and it is not a shock to me that she came through to win that because she has been around for a while now and she is a great talent.

"She was part of the relay team in Rome and she is coming through well which is good for the sport."

Meanwhile, Lizzie Simmonds won the women's 100m backstroke with Liam Tancock taking all five points in the men's.

David Davies helped out Great Britain's points total with victory in the men's 1500m freestyle while Rebecca Adlington made up for her 400m freestyle defeat to Carlin with a win in the 800m.

And Germany's Paul Biedermann secured his third win of the meet as he defeated Britain's Ross Davenport in the 200m freestyle.
