Wimbledon 2010 WHEN it comes to singles, Great Britain have enjoyed their worst Wimbledon performance in history this year, but after three victories on Wednesday, anyone for doubles?

Three British pairings notched up wins to lift the gloom among the home faithful at SW19, who once more are struggling to look past Andy Murray as the great white hope.

But while seven Brits crashed to first round singles exits across Monday and Tuesday, two men's doubles pairings and one ladies' doubles pairings have given the British public something to shout about.

Jamie Delgado and Josh Goodall set the tone, overcoming Nicolas Almagro and Santiago Ventura 5-7, 7-6, 6-1, 6-4.

The Brits were forced to rally having gone a set behind but after a nail-biting tie-break victory in the second, the home pair exerted their authority and marched into round two.

Delgado said: "I've played here many times but every time you've played here it's special and something every player looks forward to."

Following them onto court six were Chris Eaton and Dominic Inglot who also continued the British momentum and also won in four sets, 6-7, 7-5, 6-4, 7-6, against Kevin Ullyet of Zimbabwe and Italy's Fabio Fognini.

And while Heather Watson suffered disappointment in the ladies' singles draw on Tuesday, she teamed up with Jocelyn Rae as the Brits claimed the scalps of Casey Dellacqua and Alicia Molik 3-6, 6-1, 6-4.

However there was not such good news for Naomi Cavaday and Anna Smith who went down 4-6, 6-4, 6-1 despite taking the first set, while Anne Keothavong and Mel South were brushed aside 6-4, 6-1 by world singles number four Caroline Wozniacki and her partner Sania Mirza.

Meanwhile, Sarah Borwell, who is in doubles action with Raquel Kops-Jones of the USA, will resume play at 7-6, 2-6 with number five seeds Liezel Huber and Bethanie Mattek-Sands.
