GREAT Britain's losing run at the beach volleyball World Championships has continued after Zara Dampney and Shauna Mullin lost out to Germany's Geeske Bancke and Anja Gunter.

That was the British duo's second defeat in Stavanger, Norway, having crashed to American fourth seeds Nicole Branagh and Elaine Youngs.

Dampney and Mullin, who arrived in Norway ranked 45th out of the 48 teams in action, will now have to win their final group game to have any chance of progessing.

Fellow Brits Lucy Boulton and Denise Johns, ranked 44th, also have it all to do with one match remaining, having sunk to two defeats to Brazilian fifth seeds Ana Paula Connelly and Shelda Bede and Greek duo Vassiliki Arvaniti and Maria Tsiartsiani.

It is the first time Great Britain have had more than one entrant at the World Championships in their beach volleyball history.
