The 15-year old was looking for a second career Grand Slam junior title, having won Wimbledon girl's event in 2008.
She arrived in Melbourne brimming with confidence after joining forces with Andy Murray to take Great Britain to the Hopman Cup final.
And she also reached the last eight of the women's doubles, alongside Australian teenager Sally Peers.
But she was out-of-sorts against Karolina Pliskova, whose identical twin sister Kristyna she had beaten on her road to the final.
Pliskova fired down 13 aces while Robson contributed 31 unforced errors, as she lost 6-1, 7-6 in one hour and 20 minutes on the Rod Laver Arena,
"In the first set I didn't play well so I started getting a bit annoyed with that but i wasn't nervous," said Robson.
"I tried to make a new start in the second set and I wasn't going to be able to do that with the mindset I had in the first set.
"But she served really well in the whole match so I was just looking for a chance to break her and I finally got one and then in the tie-break I let myself down a bit.
"I didn't hit any double faults until the tie-break, so at that point I just lost focus."
