SCOTTISH power-lifter Mary Anderson has smashed another six world records in the World Drug-Free Championships in Evansville, Indiana.

The 41-year-old former Scottish 400m and heptathlon champion secured three titles in the under-80 kilo weight division at Grangemouth last year and set World Masters records in three lifts, the bench press, squat and dead lift.

But Anderson was hungry for more in Indiana and in the ‘unequipped' competition - that forbids competitors the use of any wraps or supporting clothing - she doubled her World record count.

Lifts of 93.5 kilo (bench), 160k (squat) and 192.5k (dead lift), saw her surpass her own records in the latter two attempts.

Anderson was not finished there and in the ‘equipped' events Anderson shattered a 12-year record with a  512.5k total - a 110k bench press; a 190k squat and a 212.5k dead lift.

And the five-time Scottish shot put champion and two-time javelin champion, who won the last of her 11 national athletics titles in 1989, insists she owes it all to personal trainer John Wynne.

"Things had not being going well and he brought me on," said Anderson. "It's a bit annoying to have missed out on two records."
