At Beijing 2008, Great Britain topped the medals table with four golds, a silver and a bronze and windsurfer Martin, 15, has made a formidable start to his Youth Olympics campaign in the Far East.
Martin, who can also boast a fourth place at the World Junior Championships in France, clinching victory in the first race of the competition to top the pile, before adding a second place finish in the next race to top the pile after two races.
Martin has three points from his two races while his closest competitor Mayan Rafic of Israel has six with 13 races still remaining.
"It was a great start for me and the weather conditions weren't that great because it wasn't that windy but I managed to get two good results," said Martin, who is competing in the Techno 293 class.
Meanwhile, in the women's equivalent, Britain's Jade Rogers fell foul of the weather in Singapore, which ensured her creditable ninth place finish in the first race was somewhat tarnished by coming home 14th in the second.
"It was going well until the second race and then I had a bit of bad luck with the weather conditions," said Rogers, whose 23 points put her in 11th place after day one, 18 behind leader Audrey Pei Lin Young of Singapore.
