Golding arrived in Singapore brimming with confidence following his surprise run to the semi-finals of the boy's singles at Wimbledon.
He underlined his medal potential by claiming the scalp of top seed and world number one Marton Fucsovics in the first round and dropped just three games in a straightforward and straight sets second round victory.
But the 16-year old Londoner - the youngest player in the draw - was denied his semi-final place by Colombia's Juan Sebastian Gomez, losing 6-4, 6-0.
Golding can however take solace from the fact that her and Jiri Vesely of the Czech Republic are just one win away from doubles gold.
The duo eased past Diego Galeano and Ricardo Rodriguez 6-3, 6-2 in the semi-finals and will face Russian duo Victor Baluda and Mikhail Biryukov.
